6 months! (warning: this post has an annoying amount of pictures)

Cousin Knox "helped" me take Jensie's 6 month pictures...just a week or so late. But better late than never.

- The girl finally sleeps! Bedtime is around 8 o'clock. She normally wakes around 5:30 or 6:00 whenever Ben leaves for work, and wants a little snack, and then it's back to sleep until around 8:00.
- Just in the last couple of days she's really gotten the hang of sitting up.
- She's eating food. So far she's had squash and peas. She doesn't seem to like either too much.
- I know she's only 6 months old, and I might be crazy, but she seems to like books. A book holds her attention longer than any other toy.
-She's started reaching for people.
-No matter what, without fail, even when she is in the worst mood ever - she flips out (in a good way) whenever Ben gets home. It is the sweetest thing ever. She gets this huge, goofy grin on her face and starts flapping her arms like crazy until he picks her up.
- She got her first round of antibiotics this month. Like the great, experienced, totally with-it parents that we are, we took her for her 6 month check-up thinking she was the picture of health only to be told that she had a double ear infection. In our defense, she never acted like they were bothering her one bit.

A look back...

We love her more each day.

I'm so ashamed

Well, it's been about a week now. And I'm pretty positive that I don't need to document this event in order to remember it. I'm afraid I will never be able to get the image out of my head.

Jenson rolled off the couch. I'm not going to say whether or not she might have barely bumped her head a tiny tiny bit on the coffee table. And I know I shouldn't admit that The Bachelor was on when the horrible thing happened.

I was changing the angel's diaper when I turned around to grab some wipes. The next thing I know, she was on the ground screaming her head off. I cannot even describe the panic and guilt that washed over me immediately. I quickly picked her up and handed her to Ben, who was watching in horror from across the room. Jenson cried for about 2 minutes, while I cried for the rest of the night. I cried when I nursed her, I cried when we put her to bed, I cried when I went to bed. Dramatic, much?

She seemed no worse for the wear - not even a bump or scratch. But I just had to get it off of my chest.

Sorry, Baby Girl.

Here's your dad; he's a better parent.

Squash

We knew we wanted to wait until Jens was around 6 months old to start giving her food. But then Ben decided he wanted to wait until she was exactly 6 months before we tried. So Wednesday was the day. She hates it. This is how it went down.

A great day

Yesterday Jens turned 6 months old. I cannot believe we've held the little snit snort in our arms for 6 whole months. We spent the morning in bed together. We've tried to be very diligent in having her sleep only in her crib, but I've gotten in the habit of having her sleep with me after Ben leaves for work. She normally eats about 6 and then we go back to sleep for a couple of hours. She is a great spooner. Today we spent our time playing with our feet and cuddling and dozing.

Then the girl decided to have a major blowout and got herself a little mid-morning bath.

In the afternoon we went to our beloved Dr. Krause for a check up and some yucky shots. Ben even ended up leaving work early and meeting us there! Jensie weighs 16.5 pounds and is 26 inches long. She's in the 60 percentile.

Ben and I thank God every day for our happy, healthy baby. We are so lucky to be her parents.

Bath time

Saturday night I was pouting to Ben about Jens and I having to go to church by ourselves the following morning since he had to work, when one of us mentioned that she probably needed a bath. Neither one of us could remember the last time she got one. After sitting in silence for a couple of minutes, trying to remember when we last cleaned the poor girl, we gave her a bath. And we took these pictures.

5 months

Ugh, I'm so mad at myself for not blogging since her 4 month post. This blog was supposed to suffice as a baby book, and I'm failing!

Frist of all, can I just say that postpartum hair loss is no joke.

And secondly, can you just look at this girl.

1. She rolls over - front to back AND back to front now.

2. She still hasn't tasted a thing but boring breast milk... (except for when my dad dipped her pacifier in ice cream)

3. She "knows" me and Ben now and sometimes decides to prefer us over other friends and family. Which is secretly a little sweet, but also annoying.

4. She loves to chew on everything. Her favorite toys at the moment are some rubber princess bath toys from her Chief and Sassy, and Sophie, the giraffe. She also still loves Lamar.

5. The girl suddenly LOVES the sound of her own voice. We're talking, she screams as loud as she can
and is just as proud as can be.

6. She is an awful sleeper. I'm a walking zombie, and in the middle of the night when I want to ring her little neck...I just try to remember how cute and sweet she is during the day.

7. She goes to sleep just fine. We still put her to bed awake, but only after our family nighttime routine consisting of: reading a book, saying a prayer, and singing a song. I'm sure she couldn't care less, but it happens to be one of my favorite times.

8. She loves the bath. She doesn't get them nearly often enough probably. How often are you supposed to bathe a baby, anyway?

9. When she's getting sleepy and winding down, she plays with my hair or touches her dad's or my face, and it about kills me every time.

10. Ben's contribution to the list is sitll "sweetest baby in the world".
