The other day was Over Achiever Mom's snack day.

Yes, she made a little individual fruit pizza for every child. I'm sorry if you don't think this is blog-worthy, but I just thought it was nuts. The kids loved it! Emma said it was "scrumptious" and Gabriel said it was "courageous" (but I'm pretty sure he meant to say "outrageous").

We're still working on their vocabulary and grammar. Especially the kid whom I had this conversation with today:

Mrs. Hawley: "Sam, are you going to wear your PJs tomorrow for pajama day?"
M: "I are!"
Mrs. Hawley: "Try again."
M: "Me is!"

And apparently this is what I look like to my students. Really flat hair, a fat neck, scary face, 5 fingers total, and practically no legs. But she loves me, so that's all that matters.

I love seeing Jesus in my students.

I don't know how long I had been grumpy today before my sweet little one showed me Jesus. I didn't see Him till social centers, which is at the very end of the day. I'm glad she snapped me out of it. I hate to think of all the times I could have seen Him today, if only I'd been looking.

She was in art center, and I was busy signing everyone's folders. She had asked me like twenty million times if I would come look at her picture. When I finally made it over there, I was so pleasantly surprised! She prefaced by singing me the song:

This is the Cross
This is the cross where Jesus died.
(Make cross with fingers.)
This is the hill where Mary cried.
(Put two fists together.)
This is the tomb where Jesus lay.
(Hold two open palms together.)
This is the stone that rolled away.
(Make circle of thumbs and forefinger and "roll".)

AND THEN she showed me her picture. Yep, she had drawn a picture for each line of the song. It was perfect. She finished by telling me, "Mrs. Hawley, you know the BEST part?! He's ALIVE!" with the biggest smile on her face.

Also today:
boy #1: Mrs. Hawley! Boy #2 pushed me!!
boy #2: Nobody saw it!
Me: Well, Jesus saw it. (I realize this isn't entirely legal for me to say)
boy #1: And so did the demons!

That one wasn't as sweet.

I overheard an interesting conversation at the art table today:
Mean Little Boy: You are ugly!
Smart Little Girl: Whatever, I write my ABC's way better than you.

Also, we about had a major disaster on our hands, when one child decided to announce to the whole class during circle time that THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUS!
I frantically rambled for about 10 straight minutes, and I think everyone's pure innocent imagination was spared. But I'm not sure. And you better believe that ornery child ended his day on red. (That's really bad in the kindergarten neighborhood)

In other news, 4th year of medical school is turning out to be a breeze! No Friday clinics for a month! I had Parent Teacher Conferences this week, which resulted in me also having Friday off. Ben and I spent the day with Bennett which included:
holding a rat
petting a snake
The Lion King
popcorn, M&Ms, and french fries for lunch
Centennial Land Run Monument
Bass Pro Shop
Wal-Mart
and a camo sweat suit, that Zach says he has yet to take off
