Happy Easter!

Ben and I decided to fill Easter baskets for each other this year.
Mine included: shoes, magazines, and candy...3 of my favorite things.
His included: candy, a Thunder license plate, a turkey call (I'm getting really tired of blogging about those)

Benny's also had a Thunder t-shirt...
the exact same one that he happened to be wearing.
I'm a terrible wife.
I mean, come on, I do all the laundry. How could I have not have remembered??

Oh well, Happy Easter!
And don't forget:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead ... 1 Peter 1:3

Tornadomart

Yesterday evening, Ben and I made the trek to Htown for Easter. We were just in our own little world, Ben listening to his book on tape, and me reading A Thousand Splendid Suns. (That's right, we don't really talk much on long car trips...but we were holding hands the whole time.)

My dad calls when we're a few miles out of town, and frantically tells us to hurry up and get home, because tornados are coming! But as I've stated in a previous post, the impending threat of bad weather not-so-secretly thrills me. So we said, yeah yeah whatever, and even dared to stop at Walmart in Henryetta before we headed out to the house. We bought a Turkey Tag for Ben (that's a blog post of it's own), and then were headed out the door.

All of a sudden, the store manager dramatically called over the intercom, "A tornado is on the ground, and all customers need to head to the fitting room."

What?!?! I could not stop laughing. I am kicking myself for not taking any pictures. Because, let me tell you, it was a sight to see. We were stuck with these people for a good 30 minutes.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not one bit ashamed of these people. In fact, I grew up with those people. And in fact, I even worked at the said Walmart in high school. Yes, I worked at Walmart.

Ben and I spend the time sitting on pillows and reading magazines...and holding hands.

Substitute

I had to go to the doctor yesterday afternoon, so I had to get a substitute. I was pretty nervous, to say the least. The last time I had to be gone, I got this picture sent to me on my phone:
Those are the few that had to sit out at recess. Approximately 15 out of 25.

Zoo Happenings

Remember the ONE awful, cold, windy day last Friday, that was right smack dab in the middle of beautiful, sunny, warm days? Yeah, we went to the zoo that day.
And to make matters worse, these two snit snorts forgot a jacket. Guess who's jacket they're wearing? Yep, I was so cold.
Regardless, it was still a great day. And besides the few that were crying because they wanted to go home, I think the kids had a wonderful time.

We didn't get to see the elephants because this was happening. Little baby girl elephant was born later Friday night, after we had left.

Yesterday at school I asked the kiddos what they think Little Ellie (that was my vote) should be named. The list includes, but is not limited to:
Girly Girl
Mrs. Hawley
Mrs. Hawley Girl
Coconut
Silly Sally
and
Carlos

Happy Birthday, sweet Benny!

Today is my husband's 26th birthday. We celebrated in Wichita yesterday with a little birthday shopping at TJ Maxx:

And then we started out the day with:
and
Isn't that what every 26 year-old guy wants for his birthday? A turkey box call?

Bennett came over this afternoon to help us celebrate. For some reason, Uncle Ben let him lay in our bed with a bowl full of shredded cheddar cheese. That didn't end well.

Happy birthday, Ben. I love you. My gift to you is one whole complain-free day of fantasy baseball. Check it all the live long day, sweetheart. I won't say a word.

Also, was it just me, or did anyone else want to just give Rory Mcllroy a big hug today?
